Why study management?

We're all used to unconsciously doing daily tasks, like washing, brushing our teeth, getting dressed, or calling a taxi, without thinking about them. However, when we stop to analyze the order and timing of these tasks, we often realize we've instilled certain rules or tricks to save time and energy. We always hang the towel in the same place, for instance, and if something is out of place, it bothers us.
These habits help us focus our mind and memory on more 'important' tasks. We all have answers to questions like when to call a taxi and when to get dressed, but these answers only come about due to analysis. We set our priorities, and each has internal rules for how we will react to unforeseen circumstances. We have algorithms that dictate our behavior according to the situation, allowing us to quickly and effortlessly react to the world around us.
We can learn much about ourselves by observing our automated daily actions. It may appear 'soulless' or 'weird,' but even the mechanism we use to see 'soullessness' is another rule we follow unconsciously.
It's an axiom - the world is indifferent to our thoughts - and yet certain rules shape our behavior in society, formed in the environment in which we grew up. We learn to adjust and improve these rules over time by what we find more 'comfortable'. In short, all the mental processes that shape our behavior are obvious to us, even if we're unaware of them.
Now let's talk about our life goals.
We all have short-term and long-term goals, and we take daily actions to move toward them. Sometimes we predict when we'll reach our goals. But could we reach them faster? Can we improve the quality of our journey, so we get more pleasure along the way and at the end?
In my reality, to do this, we must think more about our actions. From the most trivial to the work-related, we can take control of everything and optimize it. We can perfect our daily routine, so we don't have to think about it. We can improve trivial tasks to finish them quicker. We can create rules for work and study to have time for both and still have time for our personal life.
To get started, we need to develop the habit of thinking more than usual about our actions, no matter how obvious they seem.
We can also choose to leave everything as is and not analyze the details. This eliminates responsibility but can also limit us to the same situations and circle of friends who, like us, don't think much. We could be stuck doing the same thing for years until, one day, we realize it could be better. New situations will arise and change us.
So, why study management? Because all of us are humans – management machines working on managing our intellectual and material resources every day.
As for this website, here I put a set of articles about project management composed from hundreds of various notes I wrote back in the day when I was doing a project and program management.
The articles in this blog are about managing IT projects related to software development. Still, I believe going through them might benefit other specialists since IT is the world's most dynamic sphere, with plenty of different tasks and solutions arising all the time.
Thank you.
